The Pines Golf Course

The Arnold Palmer-designed Pines course is AGU rated at Par 76 and at 6881 metres from the back Tiger tees is actually longer than Augusta National. The signature hole is a 201 metre par 3 with a 194 metre water carry and no bailout area. There are 6 large lakes which mean 14 holes have water to consider for either your drive, second shot to the par 4's or third shot to the par 5's; 4 of the par 4's are over 420 metres with water most of the way to the green and undulating fairways often sloping to the water.

This course is so highly regarded it was the course chosen to hold two International Skins Games with a field of golf legends such as Greg Norman, Peter Senior, Nick Price, Ian Baker Finch, John Daly, Laura Davies, Craig Parry and 5 times Winner of The Open Tom Watson.

The photo above looks back from the green to the tee some 428 metres away; this 10th par 4 would have to be one of the toughest in the country with water from tee to green on the right and forest from tee to green all the way on the left.

On the other side of the lake is the Par 5, 9th hole with water all the way down the right of the fairway.

This photo is also of our hardest hole; here a kangaroo and her joey are checking us out about 120 metres from the green, while the player in the cart in the background is getting ready to play his second shot from 195 metres.

There are more than 120 kangaroos on the course but with lush grassland they don't interfere with golfers. Other wildlife include swans, ducks, pelicans, corellas and many other species. So take your camera with you as you'll have plenty of great photo opportunities.
