Tip: Long drivers will be confronted with reaching fairway bunkers
on both sides. Avoid these as you will have a very difficult
140 metre bunker shot to an angled green, with water on the
left.
Pro Tip: There is no shame in laying up on a second shot if you figure
you can't in all probability, reach the green. Know your game
and your limitations. Don't believe golfers who say they don't
care about their score - it's definitely more enjoyable to have
a lower score than a higher one!

A Jack Nicklaus designed course, Lakelands Golf
Club is located only 30 minutes drive from Sanctuary Cove. As Jack
Nicklaus will confirm, a golf course should be enjoyable and offer
variety to every golfer, no matter what their level of skill or strength.
With this in mind he designed Lakelands - a thinking player's Par
72 championship resort course playing 6489 metres from the back tees.
Nicklaus' design philosophy is to have smaller greens
on short par 4's and larger greens on longer par 4's. The 7th is a
short par 4 where, with a solid drive, the approach shot might well
be a wedge but to a very small elevated, kidney shaped green with
a deep bunker - this is a short hole but it's certainly no snack!
Conversely, the 18th is quite long with a huge green
protected by bunkers but landing in them for your second shot can
save you from being in the water which runs down the entire right
side of this fairway.
A recent innovation at Lakelands is that
you can have a personal caddie who will dress in the traditional 'Augusta
White' gear with your name on his back and carry your clubs, clean
your balls and provide you with club selection advice should you need
it.
